After a visit to Alton Towers Resort yesterday, I decided I was going to take a few snaps of the X-Sector area of the park to add to my article that I wrote about a new attraction that may be coming to Alton Towers in 2013. To my surprise there was a lot more to see than I had expected however before you keep on reading it’s probably a good idea to have a quick read of my first article ‘Alton Towers - 2013 Ride (SW7) Secret Weapon 7?‘ if you haven't already.
I think Alton towers want to build a new attraction in the 'X-Sector' section of their theme park. It's apparently going to be a multi-inversion roller-coaster with yet another 'Worlds first' element that the great Towers love to do. This is according to the council plans we found on their website (Available in this article) and according to other rumours.
There hasn't been any real evidence as of yet that anything would happen, until now. Now what I have isn't solid evidence of a new roller-coaster but is evidence that something is happening which is a lot more than I first expected to see. A board has been erected all around the proposed site and something is already well underway with the clearing of trees rubble and the old steel tent that used to house the old 'Black Hole' ride in that area. On these boards is a nice repeated pattern of what looks like DNA, and it says "Coming soon. SW7". This does however confirm absolutely that something new IS coming Alton Towers.
Now this doesn't give you any idea on what there building and were still talking rumours. The proposed plans added to the Stafford council site are the only real evidence of what it will be (you can see these plans and all the rumours on my previous article linked above).
The site is quite a big area, similar to the area size of 'Nemesis' (another ride at Alton Towers) and when I managed to secretly climb the wall to have a peak at what was going on, there was a lot of lumberjacks cutting and pulling up trees to clear the area, as well as a crane and many demolition workers taking down the old steel tent. The tent sits on a huge concrete slab that I reckon will take many hours to remove but I can imagine there will be a very large, relatively flat area of land when this maintenance has been carried out.
Anyway enough of my thoughts, if you wish to see the photos I captured you can see them below, but why not share this with your friends and let’s get talking about 'Secret Weapon 7' share your thoughts in the comments below.
